San Jose Client Gets Victory Magnum Stereo System Upgrade

October 20, 2017 By Staff Leave a Comment

Victory Magnum StereoA client from San Jose recently visited California Car Sounds and Tint in search of new speakers for his 2016 Victory Magnum stereo system. He loves the way the bike looks, but the performance of the sound system wasn’t keeping up with the 106 cubic-inch engine. With a new set of Focal PC130F 5¼-inch coaxial speakers installed in the fairing, the system sounded great but still wasn’t loud enough.

Speakers Need Power

Victory Magnum Stereo
The Focal Flax speakers sounded great, but the client wanted more output.

The client returned to the shop in search of a solution to get the output he wanted. We started talking about amplification options and where we could fit the equipment. We knew he’d need something compact that could provide lots of power. The amazing little Mosconi Pico 2 was the perfect solution. The Pico 2 is a two-channel amplifier – rated to produce an impressive 80 watts per channel – that will fit in the palm of your hand.

We firmed up an installation plan and scheduled an appointment with our installer to integrate the amp with the bike’s factory radio.

Victory Magnum Stereo Integration Solution

Our technicians found the perfect spot for the electronics, right behind the factory radio.

The mounting plate for the equipment was covered in protective bedliner spray and bolts in using factory bolts.

The convertor and amplifier fit perfectly on the mounting plate.

Our fabrication team created a metal mounting panel for the amplifier and an AudioControl LC2i line output converter. The LC2i takes the speaker level signal from the factory-installed head unit and reduces it in voltage so that the signal can be fed into the Pico 2. With the mounting panel protected with a durable truck bedliner coating, we bolted it to the aluminum frame inside the fairing and mounted the new equipment.

As you can see from the photos, all the wiring is bundled using Tesa cloth tape to keep it tidy and prevent any buzzes or rattles as the bike goes down the road. We set the output converter level and the sensitivity control on the amplifier using our scope, then gave the system a good listen to make sure it performed the way we expected.

The client returned to pick up his Magnum and check out the sound system. The new amplifier was a perfect match for the Focal speakers. The system played nice and loud and sounded great. We had everything done in time for the client and his friends to cruise to Reno for the Street Vibrations Fall Rally. Even with more than 50,000 riders in attendance, this gorgeous black and silver cruiser and its new sound system stood out in the crowd.

If you own a motorcycle and are after an upgrade like this Victory Magnum stereo, drop into California Car Sounds and Tint and speak with a member of our team. You can reach us by e-mail using our online contact form for more information about our products and services.
