A client from San Jose, CA, came by California Car Sounds & Tint in search of a better speaker upgrade for his amazing 1971 Chevy C10 pickup truck. He had purchased prefabricated plastic kick panels a few years ago, but he didn’t like the way they intruded into the interior. We showed the client the Morel Virtus Nano two-way speaker kit and proposed the construction of an entirely new set of kick panels for the truck.
One of our skilled technicians set to work on making a two-piece panel for each kick panel. He fitted a base panel to the kick area, then created an accent and space trim piece to give us enough mounting depth for the midrange. He finished by wrapping them in vinyl. For the tweeters, we used the angled surface-mount kit that was included in the Morel set. We mounted the new kick panels without the need to drill or cut any new holes.
The client was thrilled with the look and the sound. His parking brake and high-beam switch also function perfectly.
