Product Spotlight: Morel Virtus Nano 3-way

November 11, 2019 By Staff Leave a Comment

Virtus Nano 3-wayWhen it comes to car speaker upgrades that don’t take up much space, the Morel Virtus Nano 3-way kits from California Car Sounds and Tint in Campbell are the best option available. The Virtus Nano 603 and Virtus Nano 603 carbon include a set of ultra-thin MW6 or MW6C 6.5-inch woofers, a pair of CDM600 midrange drivers, a pair of MT120N tweeters and passive crossover networks. Let’s look at what makes these component speakers a truly unique solution to upgrade your sound system.

Virtus Nano Shallow Woofers

Virtus Nano 3-wayAt the heart of the Virtus Nano 3-way sets are the MW6 and MW6C woofers. These 6.5-inch diameter speakers feature a shallow design that requires a mere 0.67 inch of mounting depth. This shallow requirement means the speaker can be mounted in door, kick panel and rear deck locations without the need to modify the metal in behind. If you have a classic car, a hot rod or simply want speakers where a normal design will never fit, these are the best option available.

At the heart of the MW6 design is Morel’s External Voice Coil (EVC) configuration, which places a high-strength neodymium magnet inside the 2.1-inch aluminum voice coil former and Hexatech aluminum coil winding.

The Nano woofers feature a pressed paper cone that offers an excellent balance of mass, rigidity and damping. For even more impressive performance, the MW6C uses a carbon fiber cone that is laminated to a foam core. The added mass of the carbon cone affords more low-frequency extension.

CDM600 Midrange and MT120N Tweeter

The CDM600 midrange drivers feature a silk dome design and the same 2.1-inch EVC voice coil configuration as the 6.5-inch woofers from the set. A vent on the rear of the speaker helps with voice coil cooling.

The MT120N uses Morel’s famous Accuflex silk-coated dome design for excellent detail and clarity. Flush- and surface-mounting hardware is included to help direct the output of the tweeter to the listening position.

Passive Crossover Networks Included

Both the regular Nano and the carbon kits include a set of 3-way passive crossover networks called the MXR300n. The networks filter the woofer to the midrange at 500 Hz with -12 dB/octave slops and the midrange to the tweeter 2,200 Hz.

Upgrade Your Vehicle with the Morel Virtus Nano 3-Way Set

Whether you are driving a new Mercedes-Benz or a classic Mustang or Corvette, the Morel Virtus Nano 3-way set is a great way to bring out the finest details in your music.
