Truck Steps and Running Boards

Truck StepsIf you live in Silicon Valley and are shopping for truck steps or running boards, drop by California Car Sounds and Tint in Campbell. Our team of truck accessory experts can help you navigate the thousands of options available to make getting in and out of your vehicle easier and safer. Let’s look at a few of the most popular step options for trucks, SUVs and vans.

Why Would I Need Truck Steps?

Many 4×4 and four-wheel-drive vehicles are designed with a lot of ground clearance. Vehicles like the Ford Raptor and Super Duty trucks, Chevy Silverado HD, Ram 3500, Toyota Tundra and the Nissan Titan can require the driver and passenger to step up more than 12 inches to get into the vehicle. Adding a set of steps, nerf bars or running boards can cut this step distance almost in half.

Side Steps and Running Boards

Truck StepsExtruded aluminum steps that run the length of the cab are one of our most popular solutions. Many of these products feature fiberglass-reinforced end caps to prevent water, dirt, sand and debris from collecting inside. Most steps are designed to be bolted directly to the chassis or cab to provide a strong and sturdy platform that can handle hundreds of pounds per side. The steps feature extruded ribs in the top surface for enhanced traction when wet. Some are upgraded with strips of grip tape for added safety.

Tubular Steps and Nerf Bars

If you want to make it easier to get into your truck while maintaining a sporty appearance, a fabricated tubular step, often called a nerf bar, might be a suitable option. These steps are created from round or oval tubing and typically feature an integrated flat step platform welded into the tube or one that extends down from the main structure. If you’ve upgraded your truck with a grille guard and new front and rear bumpers, a set of tubular nerf bars is a functional and cosmetically attractive addition.

Truck Bed Steps

Truck StepsMany of our customers like the idea of being able to access the contents of their truck beds from locations other than the rear of the vehicle. We offer bed steps and running board designs that make it easy to access the back and sides of the bed. The WeatherTech BumpStep is a popular and affordable step that slides into the tow hitch receiver. Likewise, the Amp Research BedStep is a flip-down step that can be mounted between the cab and rear wheel or at the back of the bed. Accessing the bed is as simple as kicking the platform down and climbing on.

Motorized Side Steps

Truck StepsOur most popular and preferred step solution is the Amp Research PowerStep running boards. These motorized steps fit up tight to the rocker panels as you’re driving to maintain ground clearance with minimal effect on the vehicle’s aerodynamics. As soon as you open a door, the step extends down to make it easy to get in and out of the vehicle. For applications that require additional height, the PowerStep XL is 3 inches longer. For extreme applications, the PowerStep Xtreme offers dual motors to deal with muddy conditions.
