A client from Las Gatos contacted us here at California Car Sounds and Tint in Campbell in search of a 2010 Audi R8 radar detector solution. We had a look at his car and talked to him about his concerns and goals for the system. We looked at options for where to mount components before developing a custom quote to protect his vehicle.

Wanting as much protection as possible, we suggested the Escort 9500CI Platinum for the Audi R8 radar system. The system includes a twin-antenna radar receiver, front and rear laser shifters and an easy-to-use control panel and information display.
Laser Shifter Installation
A key factor in the performance of the ShifterPro laser sensors is their installation. Our team mounted the front sensors at the outer edges of the lower center Audi grille. Each sensor is carefully aligned to make sure it is perfectly horizontal and aimed directly forward. The alignment is critical in fooling police lidar systems.
Custom Concealed Alert Indicator Installation
As part of our plan to keep the installation as concealed as possible, we suggested mounting the concealed alert indicator warning LED inside the factory rear-view mirror. This location requires removing and disassembling the mirror to integrate the LED inside. The results are well worth the effort. The client will be able to see warnings in his peripheral vision, and the vehicle remains unaltered.
